The ideal time to experience the Tosh Valley Trek is between March to June and September to November. During these months, the weather remains pleasant, trails are accessible, and the views are clear. Avoid planning your trek during the peak monsoon season (July to August) due to slippery trails and potential landslides. If you're up for a snow trek, December to early March offers snowy landscapes, though the route may become moderately challenging.
Tosh Village is accessible via road. The nearest town is Bhuntar, which is about 51 km away. From Bhuntar, you can:
- Take a local bus to Barshaini, the last stop before Tosh.
- Hire a taxi directly to Tosh (if road conditions permit).
- From Barshaini, Tosh is a 3 km uphill trek that takes around 45-60 minutes on foot.
If you're traveling from Kasol, Tosh is approximately 20 km away. Most trekkers base themselves in Kasol before heading to Tosh.
The official starting and ending point of the Tosh Valley Trek with Trivikal is Tosh Parking, located near Barshaini. The trek begins here and leads to Tosh Village, where you stay overnight before descending back the next day. For convenience, you can reach Tosh Parking from Kasol via local transport or private cab.
The weather in Tosh remains fairly cool throughout the year. Average temperatures range between 2°C to 10°C, but can drop below 0°C during winters. In summers, days are pleasant and nights cool, making it ideal for trekking. In December and January, snowfall is common, which adds to the beauty but may make the trail more challenging. Monsoon (July–August) is not recommended due to heavy rain and muddy trails.
The Tosh Trek distance is approximately 10–12 kilometers (round trip), depending on your starting point and trail conditions. It’s an easy to moderate trek and usually takes 3 to 4 hours in total, making it perfect for beginners and casual trekkers.
