Know Before You Go

Pick-up from the airport is available only between 05:00 AM and 07:00 PM as traveling in the suburbs becomes unsafe. Outside of these hours, if you are reaching Siliguri past 7 PM then it would be ideal to inform Trivikal POC prior to booking so that Trivikal can reschedule your travel plan accordingly since you will have to stay overnight in Siliguri itself.

Government approved identity proof is mandatorily required for each guest at the time of booking to obtain necessary permits and also upon arrival. PAN Card and Driving License shall not be considered as valid address proof.

There is no governing body (HRACC) to declare star category for hotels. Hence, the room standards would not be the same as in TIER-I/II cities.

We book a standard room category unless you request an alternative (better) room category to meet your accommodation needs. For three shared rooms we will have mattresses at the said property. North East properties are in such a remote location that it lacks infrastructure, meaning its rooms have only the most fundamental and essential accommodation services available.

Visitation for seniors and children less than 4 years old: There is not much oxygen in Gurudongmar Lake, so it is not advisable that seniors and children less than 4 years old visit it. The North Sikkim Tourism Board also does not issue permits for infants who are less than 2 years old. It poses a problem if you have an infant traveling with you; you will not be allowed to visit North Sikkim.

As per NE guidelines, transport is given only on point to point basis NOT for junk and any deviation in the itinerary will cost an additional amount (unless there are issues such as bad weather, political/social unrest, road blockade, VIP movement, restrictions on transport rules in the state). You can check with us before any changes in the itinerary the fees.

Nathu La Pass fees have not been included in the package as it is a restricted area and special permits have to be taken to visit there. Only between Wednesday and Sunday, permits are issued and can be cancelled at any time due to security reasons or weather conditions. A very few number of vehicle are issued permits at Nathu La and hence these have a first come and first served basis, in which case, not guaranteed beforehand. So you will have to pay the same amount on site and depending on time. (Even when Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir is added in the package as well).

Nathu La pass: US$ 50 per vehicle charge that can be levied subject to season and availability.

Mt. Katao, Kalapathar, Chopta Valley and Zero Point (in North Sikkim): US$ 50 per vehicle charge that can be levied subject to season. Access to the locations is allowed after obtaining mandatory permits for Indian nationals as well as foreign nationals.

Trivikal does not recommend Sumo/Bolero to customers as those vehicles are not permitted in prime market areas of Sikkim. However, if you still choose one, then you will be taken to the nearest possible place. In all such cases, you would have to walk or ride a union taxi (which you'd have to pay yourself), which would take you to the hotel/pick-up point.

During peak season, the vehicle may get delayed during pick-up/delivery owing to traffic congestion, bad weather conditions, political/social unrest, roadblocks, VIP movements, and prohibition of state transport rules. The company advises the customer to exercise discretion.

The state government does not permit the passengers to use electric room heaters due to acute power scarcity in the state. Moreover, it is also likely that hoteliers might not have room heater in their rooms. However, some hoteliers do provide room heater on chargeable basis at their sole discretion.
Passengers with turbans are not allowed entry in to Lachin as per the government order.

The state authority does not allow visiting Lachen, Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass reportedly for security reasons. Foreigners are allowed to visit Lachung and Tsomgo Lake, when traveling in group numbers of two and more, with an Indian guide being compulsory. But foreigners traveling alone are not allowed to visit any part of North Sikkim.

Foreigners traveling with their spouse and are either Indians themselves or OCI cardholders would be counted as a single traveler, unless the spouse himself is carrying an OCI card.

If the North Sikkim permit is withdrawn/ not provided, due to bad weather or a political dispute, etc, for the safety of the travelers, Trivikal will make alternate sightseeing arrangements. In such cases, the alternate accommodation charges have to be borne by the customer since the pre-booked hotels apply their own cancellation policies, and are nonrefundable. The same policy applies in case you book hotels personally.

Heavy rains occur between June and September and depending on conditions, the itinerary is subjected to changes at real times if landslides block roads or other form of natural calamity.

Any change in the itinerary is strictly subjected to weather conditions, political manifestations, government restrictions, etc. Trivikal and Land Tour Operators reserve rights to rearrange
